The Ripon Civic Society have nominated St Wilfrid’s Mews, Coltsgate Hill, Ripon their top award for Best Restored Building.
The Civic Society had three other nominations in this category for 2005. The Chapel on the Old College Site, the restoration of the Victorian Chapel House and St Wilfrid’s Mews, Coltsgate Hill.
The committee nominate awards for each category based on the use of the former building, the architectural features that have been restored and those buildings on public access that can be viewed and appreciated by the surrounding public.
Developers Avenir Properties of Harrogate are delighted with the award. Director Andrew Carnell says “The conversion of this old Chapel into eight luxury one and two bedroom apartments plus an executive three bedroom town house with private garden, all with parking spaces, was a delicate and carefully thought out development to ensure maximum use of the original character and shape of the building. We worked together with PCP Architects and the contractors to create a truly unique site in an area that required restoration and we are thrilled with the end result.”
The development was completed at the end of 2004 and is now fully occupied.
