He was invited back by Harrogate- based Avenir Properties, which is behind the conversion of the school. Mr Yeadon, who still lives in Leeds, went to Littlemoor in 1914 and left in 1921 at the age of 13.

A number of pupils from the new Littlemoor Primary School, New Road Side, Rawdon, which opened two years ago, also had the opportunity to look around the original school, as well as receive a history lesson with a difference by speaking to Mr Yeadon about his school days.

Work on the Littlemoor project begins early next month.
